The Cottonwood Elementary Community Council has already been working to make this year another great school year. You are probably thinking, “What the heck is the Community Council?” Our goal is to ensure all parents feel informed about what is it that we do. Below is a list of facts that should help you understand the responsibilities of our school community council:
* You can read a copy of these plans by coming to the school and asking Mr. Hughes for one, e-mailing the council chair (address list to the right) or by visiting
*Our school received $25, 388 last school year, and we were given $24,165 for the the 2018-2019 school year!
*The majority of the money is spent on keeping software current, on-line programs (such as IXL.com, Reading Eggs, Math Seeds), and periodicals.
*We are not the same as PTO, although many of us have helped with PTO in years past as well as currently.
*If you have any questions or concerns, or just if you're just plain curious...anyone is welcome to attend our meetings! Upcoming meetings are scheduled for 3:30 PM on the following dates:
-October 2, 2018
(The rest of the meetings will be scheduled at the first meeting)
All meetings will be held at Cottonwood Elementary (any changes or additional meetings will be posted on the front door of the school for 10 days in advance).
Please let any one of the council members know if there is something we can do for your student to improve their time at Cottonwood Elementary.
WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITED PARENTS TO CONSIDER SERVING ON THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL.
VOTING IS HELD EVERY FALL AS NEEDED. YOU, AS PARENTS, CAN DIRECTLY INFLUENCE HOW THE LANDS TRUST FUNDS ARE SPENT IN OUR SCHOOL.
